About the brand 

The Vivienne Westwood story is just as unconventional as the pieces you see in the brand’s current jewellery collection. It is bold, edgy, unapologetic and quintessentially British. The brand’s journey has followed the astonishing career of the British designer it is named after, growing from a single store on London’s King’s Road, to now, an internationally acclaimed powerhouse at the forefront of jewellery, clothing, bags, accessories and more. 

 

The story begins in 1971 when Vivienne Westwood joined forces with English impresario, Malcolm McLaren. The pair were less interested in the Hippie movement occurring at the time, and more so in the rebellious nature of fashion and culture in the 50s. Their inspired minds led them to open the store on King’s Road, which remains a key asset for the brand and attraction in the capital, drawing in both fans of the designer and British history. 

 

It wasn’t long before the 50s rebellious fashion style was overtaken by the designer’s fascination with leather, zips and biker clothing, leading to the production of provocative slogan printed t-shirts. Despite a prosecution under the obscenity law, the designer's daring spirit could not be stopped. Westwood was now a pioneer of the Punk Rock movement, turning an edgy, DIY aesthetic into an aspiring fashion trend. 

 

But when Punk Rock entered mainstream culture, Westwood, once again, looked elsewhere for inspiration for her designs. From here, the designer became a regular feature at catwalk shows, showing the diversity of her talent and ensuring she, and her brand, always remained one step ahead of changing trends. 

 

And this is something which is still present in today’s Vivienne Westwood collections. The jewellery styles in particular showcase a more refined look and feel, using premium quality materials and timeless designs - something which is only possible through a long past of taking risks and years of experience.
